Peacemakers Fresno is a faith-driven nonprofit organization that came to be after a large notice of food insecurity in the community. The Crossover Community Church came together to start an organization with hopes to help fix this issue.

The name Peacemakers came from a bible verse found in Matthew 5:9 which reads, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” Peacemakers lives up to its name by helping to build a stronger community here in Fresno.

“We exist to build bridges between churches, local organizations and the community through practical acts of service and consistent relational engagement,” said Executive Director Steve Dominguez.

Although the Peacemakers team is small, it is still filled with leaders and volunteers who work together to help bring this organization to life and achieve what they want to accomplish.

We plan together, pray together and each take responsibility for different areas such as family outreach, community events, volunteer coordination and partnerships,” said Dominguez. “Collaboration is key. We all bring different strengths, but we share the same heart to serve and uplift others.”

“We bring the hope of Christ to a world in need by supplying resources to families and hosting different events throughout the month to ensure people’s needs are met,” said Fundraising and Volunteer Coordinator Stuart McCosh.

“My primary role here at Peacemakers is to fundraise. It’s my job to develop a strong connection with people and share with them what we do as Peacemakers,” said McCosh.

Peacemakers is an organization connected with The Crossover Community Church, which allows the organization to connect with as many people as possible through their connection with the church.

Everyone is welcome. Families, students, volunteers and anyone in the community who wants to connect or make a difference. Our goal is to create spaces where people feel seen, valued and cared for,” said Dominguez.

This organization hosts many events that people are encouraged to attend like neighborhood cleanups, community meals, youth mentorship gatherings and outreach events. The whole point of Peacemakers is to bring people together, no matter their situation. Whether it’s through their community events or Sunday mass, people will be brought together.

“It’s not just about helping people, it’s about building relationships that restore dignity and faith. Personally, being part of Peacemakers keeps me grounded and reminds me that small, consistent acts of love can change lives and neighborhoods,” said Dominguez.

“I can’t help but become a better person when I am surrounded by such positive people every day. Everyone walks in with a smile and high spirits, we are filled with the joy of the Lord here and we want others to experience that also,” said McCosh.

In the heart of Fresno, Peacemakers stands as a great example of what faith, compassion and community can achieve when joined together for a greater purpose. What began as a response to food insecurity has grown into a movement of hope. Through collaboration and prayer, the leaders and volunteers of Peacemakers continue to help their community by restoring faith and reminding everyone that each person matters.
