FRESNO, Calif. – On the morning that Donald Trump was sworn into office, dozens of community members joined forces to protest him and his inauguration.
As early as 7 a.m., protests happened throughout Fresno. As some protests were shut down by the CHP, protestors all gathered at the intersection of Shaw and Blackstone.
Protesters withstood the cold and rain for three hours with signs that read “Impeach Trump” and “Not My President.” A true representation of their fight and determination preparing for Trump’s presidency.
I’m a Latina and I’m definitely dissatisfied with the fact that he said such pejorative things about my community. My community, we are not rapists, we are not criminals, we are not drug traffickers. That was just hateful, xenophobic rhetoric and that’s what really put me in opposition with him from the inception.

I can see that there is a lot of fear and I just want to let [people] know that there are millions of people that stand in opposition of Donald Trump and what he believes in and people will work tirelessly to protect those that are being oppressed due to his policies.

I’m out here because I definitely want to add my voice with those in dissent and I feel like it’s part of the beauty of us as Americans that we have the opportunity to express dissatisfaction with our government.

I do this because I love my community and I’m still f–king here.
