Editor’s Note: Fresno has ranked last in green space for four years in a row according to The Trust for Public Land. This lack of green space is even more pronounced in south Fresno. According to the City of Fresno’s own statistics, there is 1.02 park acres per 1,000 residents in south Fresno, compared to the 4.62 park acres per 1,000 residents in north Fresno. We wanted to hear from young people using Fresno parks about why they want more green space. To find out more about parks in Fresno, please RSVP to Invest in Youth by Investing in Park, a forum hosted by Fresno Boys and Men of Color on August 27 at Yokomi Elementary School.
